Glenna Fouberg, Aberdeen, was appointed to the Board of Education in January 1998. Ms. Fouberg acquired her B.S. in secondary training from Northern State University in 1963, adopted by her masters in schooling, specializing in steerage and counseling, from SDSU in 1968. Ms. Fouberg retired in 2002 after working in schooling for 37 years, instructing English for 25 years and directing an Alternative Learning Center for 12 years. Ms. Fouberg was named South Dakota Teacher of the Year in 1994. Her term expires Dec. 31, 2017.

This consolidated governance of all public schooling in Rhode Island is an revolutionary integration of policymaking and planning for elementary, secondary and better public schooling in our state.

The Board of Education holds common month-to-month meetings, open to the public, on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Government Center, 600 East Fourth Street, Charlotte, NC 28202, except indicated otherwise on the assembly schedule. The Board could conduct an annual retreat session to establish priorities and plan its work for the upcoming 12 months.

On Monday, July 28, 2014, the Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) accredited sweeping adjustments to the processes and guidelines that govern the payment of expenses that Board members incur as part of their work. Among the adjustments, Board members will no longer use district-funded bank cards; will obtain a per diem allowance when attending professional conferences; and can make use of a brand new process for figuring out public events, conferences, and conferences that Board members can attend at the district’s expense.
